Tutoring & Supplemental Teaching Services

Tutors must register with SEAA to receive ESA+ scholarship funds.

Tutoring/Supplemental Teaching Services

Tutoring and supplemental teaching services supplement a student’s learning. This could include a live (not recorded) online or in-person class.

Tutors and supplemental teachers must enroll with SEAA to receive ESA+ payments. There are two categories of Tutoring services:

  • Tutoring (Core Academic Subjects) – math, science, English/language arts, and social studies
  • Tutoring (Other) – art, music, and foreign languages*

*Art, music, and foreign language Tutoring is an allowable use of ESA+ funds but does not count toward the academic spending requirement.

How do I find an Enrolled Tutor?

ESA+ Families can search for enrolled tutors on SEAA’s Search for a Provider portal or the ClassWallet website. ESA+ recently added online tutoring options to the ClassWallet Marketplace. Families can access one-on-one private online tutoring for ESA+ students from two providers: Outschool and Varsity Tutors.

SEAA Search for a Provider Portal

Enter the search term “tutoring” to see a list of registered tutors in North Carolina whose services you can pay for with ESA+ funds. Providers who wish to register with the ESA+ program should visit the Enroll a Provider page.
